How Did It Happen?

how did it happen? over night
we turned from ducked and groaning slaves,
forever toiling for their ruthless lords
into the kings of our destiny,
unchained, not even any longer tied
to earth: with birds we fly through endless skies
on wings of love and light
and share with ladybugs the tender grassy bed
where we embrace; and bathe with dolphins in the seas
of joy and passion: blissfully riding their
never ending gushing sparkling waves.
