 Some considerations about the cult-like aspects of Scientology

Cults and cult-like groups are known for their many ruthless ways of programming their followers' minds and turning them into robots who don't have the power of choice anymore to think their own thoughts and make their own decisions. Scientology is really unique in this, because its stated purpose is to assist the member in attaining spiritual freedom, which is the exact opposite of a state of mental slavery or robotism.

Yet while promoting this ambitious goal, they keep forcing their members to comply with more and more arbitrary and rigid rules about what to do and what not, what to read and what not, with whom to communicate etc., even how to behave sexually, until the member - who still has the goal of attaining spiritual freedom - is re-programmed so thoroughly that in fact he has turned into somebody else.

We now have an artificial personality who has very little to do with the original person. All that while the person still wants to achieve a state of being "more himself" (one of Scientology's promises). It is not easy to look through this logical paradox, especially if a person has spent an extensive amount of money, or if his family and friends all live in the same unhealthy environment.

It is a bit frightening how fast the most outrageous violations of human rights and dignity can become "normal". We have already helped many people with their difficult and often painful step out of the church, and one of the things most of them found very hard to accept was their own willingness to agree with conditions which they - deep down - felt and knew to be wrong, sometimes over many years before they finally found the courage to work themselves out of the trap they were sitting in.

This fundamental integrity violation is often the biggest problem to them, much more than all the upsets and the injustice they have been made the victim of. Fortunately the principle of the mental and spiritual clean-up of past difficulties is not only known in Scientology. So here is a procedure that really helps a person to understand how it all happened - and how it (hopefully) will never happen again.

 Step Zero: DEFINING WHAT A CULT IS.

1. Clean Slate articles and tapes concerning CULTS, CULTURES, TACIT SABOTAGE, AGREEMENT, FUSION OF HOLOGRAPHIC IMAGES.

These concepts are taught in the materials of Alan C. Walter's Knowledgism. "Clean Slate" is an extensive procedure to remove negative emotions from a word or subject. It is on our web-site under another title: The Procedure for the Clean-Up of Specific Subjects. For our purpose it should work to get the mentioned terms defined in a good dictionary and then clean-slate each of the terms.

 Step One: LOCATION OF ALL CULTS THE CLIENT HAS BEEN PART OF.

1. Have client on ABL, list ALL cults he/she has belonged to.

The ABL (Attention Bit Locator) is an electronic device which assists the processor in finding where his client's attention is fixed. It is helpful, but not absolutely necessary for the application of the procedure.

2. Note all reads.

With "read" is meant a reaction of the ABL-needle. This step is not applicable if no ABL is used.

3. Take the largest reading cult, or the cult client has the most interest in.

Largest reading: largest reaction of the ABL-needle. This is not applicable if no ABL is used - take the cult in which the client has the most interest, or the one from which the client suffers most.

(Types of Cults: Religious, drug, alcohol, academic, family, youth groups, schools, clubs, gangs, societies, hobbies, nationality, race, color, sex, etc.)

Alan C. Walter assumes here that all groups have the potential of defining laws or rules which force the group member to adopt thoughts or behaviour patterns that are not his own. Of course a group or culture is only a cult to the extent where it actually engages in such destructive tactics.



 Step Two: CREATING SEPARATION OF CLIENT FROM CULTS.

1. Indicate to client the cult item. (Only if client has a confusion or uncertainty as to which cult item to handle first.)

If the cult is already known (in our case it would be Scientology), this step is not necessary.

2. Have client tell you about cult.

3. Note reads and interest level.

Reads (ABL-reactions) are only noted if an ABL is used.

4. Find when client first connected to cult.

5. Find where client first connected to cult.

6. Ask: What happened?


 Step Three: PROCESSING THE CULT.  

1. Ask: Who is part of the cult?

2. Make list of who's.

3. Ask: Is there a known leader or leaders?

4. Get who(s).

5. Then check: Is there a hidden leader or hidden leaders?

6. Get who(s).

7. Find each who's intention. Ask: What was the intention of .....who.....?

8. Ask: Connected to .....intention..... was there a vision? Get all visions.

9. Find clients intention. Ask: What was your intention?

10. Ask: Connected to .....intention..... was there a vision? Get all visions.

11. Ask: Did these composite visions create a CULT GAME PROGRAM?

12. Get NAME of CULT GAME PROGRAM.

Alan C. Walter is talking here about the responsibilities, the regular activities, role plays and rituals in the cult which normally are connected with pursuing a senior goal. In Scientology the Cult Game Program could for instance be "To clear the planet".

13. Ask: What acceptable identities did CULT GAME PROGRAM create?

13a. Run: Presence Process 3 and Presence Process 4.

The Presence Processes need to be applied to each of the identities that came up (there might be many).

14. Ask: What unacceptable identities did CULT GAME PROGRAM create?

14a. Run: Presence Process 3 and Presence Process 4.

The Presence Processes need to be applied to each of the identities that came up (there might be many).

15. Ask: Connected to the CULT GAME PROGRAM what was it okay to do?

Repetitive to F/N.

An F/N is a certain needle pattern on the ABL. If no ABL is used, the question is repeated until the client has a big relief, realization or rise in mood.

16. Ask: Connected to the CULT GAME PROGRAM what was not okay to do?

Repetitive to F/N.

If no ABL is used, the question is repeated until the client has a big relief, realization or rise in mood.

17. Ask: Connected to the CULT GAME PROGRAM what was it okay to have?

Repetitive to F/N.

If no ABL is used, the question is repeated until the client has a big relief, realization or rise in mood.

18. Ask: Connected to CULT GAME PROGRAM what was not okay to have?

Repetitive to F/N.

If no ABL is used, the question is repeated until the client has a big relief, realization or rise in mood.

19. Add and run the following areas to commands 17 - 18:

        to earn?

        to lie about?

        to tell the truth about?

        to know?

        to understand?

        to be present with?

        to not be present with?

        to position yourself with?

        to position yourself against?

        to make decisions about?

        to spend time on?

        to have interest in?

        to focus attention on?

        to not focus attention on?

        to tacitly agree with?

        to tacitly disagree against?

        to oppose?

        to not oppose?

 PRESENCE THREE

Tell client you are going to include spotting identities and size of identities, plus spotting the spiritual being that created the identity.

1. Where are you?

2. How big are you?

3. Name the identity you wear.

Get name. If Presence 3 is used as part of other procedures (like the Cult procedure), the identity is most probably already known. In this case just make sure that you get an accurate name for it.

4. Where is [named identity]?

5. Describe that [named identity]?

6. How big is that [named identity]?

7. How big are you?

If identity is bigger than the client, run:

8a. Where is the [named identity]?

8b. Where are you?

8c. How big is [named identity]?

8d. How big are you?

Repeat a-b-c-d over and over until client de-dots itself and becomes much bigger than the identity and has Cause Indicators.

"De-dot" means that the client who has been crushed in his spiritual size until he felt no bigger than a little dot, has regained his composure, which expresses itself in a spiritual expansion where the client feels "big" again.

9. Check for unpleasant sensations and do Unpleasant Sensation Handling as needed.

10. What has spontaneously created between your [named identity] and others?

11. What have been the consequences of that?

Repeat 10 + 11 if there is more than one thing which has been created by the interchange of this identity with other people.

12. Handle any unpleasant sensations connected to the [named identity]. Apply the Procedure for the Resolution of Unpleasant Sensations for that.

13. As a [named identity]:

What have you done?

What haven't you said?

Repeat these two questions to Cause Indicators.

 


 PRESENCE FOUR:  

Tell the client:

We are going to de-dot any past troublesome identities you have been entangled with.

"De-dot" means that the client who has been crushed in his spiritual size until he felt no bigger than a little dot, has regained his composure, which expresses itself in a spiritual expansion where the client feels "big" again.

Have client read The Destructive Dance of the DOTS article.

The intention of this procedure is to separate others who have managed to dominate the client by deceit or trickery.

1. Where are you?

2. How big are you?

3. Name someone you know.

If Presence 4 is run as part of another procedure, this question is not necessary, as the identity is already known.

4. Where are they?

5. Name their identity.

If Presence 4 is run as part of another procedure, the name of the identity is already known before the start of Presence 4. We recommend to combine question 4 and question 5 and ask "Where is [already known identity]?" instead, followed by "Describe it". Then continue with question 8.

6. Describe their identity.

7. Where is their identity?

8. How big is their identity?

9. Where is the [identity's] spiritual being?

10. How big is it?

11. What has spontaneously created between you?

12. What have been the consequences of that?

13. Handle any unpleasant sensations.

Repeat 4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13 over and over until client is at cause over and no longer in mortal combat with the identity or the being.
